BROWSER VERSION FOR COMPUTERS ONLY :o

(No mobile version yet)

Hello, and thank you for checking out my very first project !

It is called Herumuto No Bichia short single-screen platformer in the likes of the classic Flash Games of the 2000's .

Any feedback is welcome!

1. PROJECT STATUS

The game has now reached its final form (sort of).

A - D controls should work now..

There's now an automatic saving function for best score.

There are Bonus Items at the end of each phase !

There's some instructions in the pause menu.

Some visual cues and effects added !

Jump buffer system has been tweeked.

Sound design has been tweeked a bit (still not great though, I hope to improve that in future projects).

Finally, there still seems to be an issue with Godot and HTLM ports, preventing from using the gamepad's triggers (Lt, Rt). Those should still work on .exe versions, and you can use Lb and Rb while playing on web browsers (I hope this will be fixed at some point though).

2. STORY

You play as Helmut L. Met, a freshly retired soldier from the Space Prussian Army, who has just opened a seaside cocktail bar on a remote tropical planet. Business is quickly flourishing, attracting tourists from all across the galaxy ! Unfortunately, for some reason, the alien wildlife keeps trying to destroy your establishment (it's unclear whether they resent successful entrepreneurship, or if they're just bothered by the noise).

Hence, you must defend the place as long as possible, while entertaining your customers with funny tricks in the process !

3. CONTROLS

- Keyboard

Move around : Left / Right Arrows

Jump : Space

Flip or Unflip : Ctrl

Pause Game : P / Esc

- Gamepad

Move around : Left Stick

Jump : A

Flip or Unflip : B / Lb / Lt / Rb / Rt

( ! As said before, triggers currently don't work on html version)

Pause Game : Start

4. TIPS ‘N TRICKS

- Jump on enemies to bounce on them, or flip mid-air to destroy them headfirst with your helmet.

- Do not try and bounce on pointy enemies, you would get hurt ! Instead, jump on them headfirst.

- You can kill jumping enemies while standing on the ground ! The important part is to touch them with your helmet.

- Try achieving multiple kills without touching the ground for some extra points (very important for high scoring)!

- Remember not to attack your customers on the sides! But feel free to bounce on them. Enemies won't try to hurt them (probably because they're so chill about all the monster attack thing going on).

- Also, if you jump headfirst into the sand, you will get stuck. If so, press jump three times to get out.

- The bartender drops Health and Tools items at the end of each enemy wave !

Herumuto no Bichi - Beta Gameplay

https://youtu.be/Ud-xA4mtT7Y

hi, thanks for the gameplay footage 👍

I like the protagonist design, he looks like a character coming straight from an Astérix story. It is pleasant to play but I find it quite difficult to bounce higher when you attack an enemy. Maybe it will come easier with a little practice.
Perhaps you could add a feature that make the NPCs more active by tossing useful items at specific moments to help Helmut.

Nice work!

Thank you for your comment !

Yup, the little moustache guy sure have some common features with Astérix.. maybe even a bit too much for my taste. That's not surprising though since my drawing style is heavily influenced by belgian and french comics :) glad you like it.

Also have to agree about the bouncing mechanics, which I'm not completely happy with yet. It's functional I think but not quite pleasant and responsive enough. I hope to tweek it in the future.

Same for additional items, it is planned to add some in future updates :)

Thanks again for the kind feedback

This is a great work in progress game. Characters are very funny to look at, and I like the beach vibe 👍
A shop to purchase bonus items or upgrades with money would be nice.
Keep it up 💪

Thank you very much for your comment ! The game will likely remain small in size but it is planned to add more features though :)

👍
